WinDVD Creator 3 is an agile program to create and edit home videos that include images, audio or music, recorded voice, titles and transitions effects. The interface is friendly and contains a number of assistants to guide those who have just began. You can save files to disk or burn them directly to a DVD. While it’s convenient and easy-to-use for those who have no previous knowledge of video edition, it may be somewhat limited for those seeking complex issues that include, for example, advanced image effects, specific time adjustments for transitions, or combination of audio tracks, since it doesn’t have these tools.
The entire program is organized as an assistant in 4 simple steps that can generate a movie. The work window is simple and well organized, has a preview area, a zone for organizing files on synopsis or slideshow mode, and an interaction window with shortcuts to the various editing tools.
The 4 steps to generate a movie are the following:

1) Capturing video: even if you don’t have the images you need for your video but have a capture device, you can catch them directly from TV and HDTV, and go Adding to the library project or burn onto a DVD.
2) Editing video: this step is the collection of materials to include in the film, assembling them and applying effects. Some of the features you’ll have available are:
A. Importing videos from the library project or from your disk. It accepts the following formats: Avi, Mpg, Wmv, Asf or Dvr-ms. Importing still images that you can then add as part of your movie or scenes. It accepts the following formats: Bmp, Jpg, Tiff, Pcx, Png, Psd and Eps.
B. Importing audio files in formats mp3, wma, wav
C. Applying effects of transitions to various categories of your film
D. Adding titles and effects of titles
E. Adding effects to filter images
F. Cutting or establishing a duration for the video, or dividing it into frames to remove some of them or assembling them with transition effects.
G. Recording sound with external microphone, capturing sound from a CD, adjusting the length of music and sound, adjusting the volume of the various tracks.
3) Adding a menu which will include an interactive menu to your movie with the functions of play / stop, scene selection and chapters and control music.
4) Performing film: From here you can compile the film to write directly to a DVD or save it on your disk (in formats Mpg, and Mpeg), and you can set options for quality and format for reproduction. You can also generate an output of your video to DV camera, iPod and PSP.
Advantages
  • Easy-to-use and wizards for all actions.
  • Variety of output formats.
  • Numerous filters and transition effects.
  • It captures video from TV and HDTV
Disadvantages
  • It doesn't allow complex frame edition (zoom, cutting, perspective, etc.)
  • It doesn't allow free edition of still images for frames
  • It doesn't allow time edition from the slideshow.
